Feel the momentum of IMPACT....become involved!

    Thursday, August 28, 2008, 05:34 AM [General]

    Good morning everyone,

Sofia commented about feeling the momentum behind IMPACT! and her comment is exactly what inspired this blog. We need to keep the positive flow of energy going and one way to do that is to focus our collective energy on doing things which will help others.

If you have not read my three most recent blogs, please do.  Please take the time to read the comments as well. Our members are inspiring, as well as supportive. Please  do not believe these blogs are about reaching into your pocket, because they are not. These blogs are about coming up with numerous ways we can help. Helping can be brainstorming. Helping can be researching. Helping can be making phonecalls. Helping can be writing letters to others. Helping can be offering emotional support. We can each find some way to help others, even if it is one hour per month. Our community has so much POWER and we CAN make an IMPACT!

There is a homeless family in Charlotte, North Carolina that needs help. Blue Goose Communty's own Aaron Desmaris contacted a news reporter in order to see what DIFFERENT ways we can help. That family of six is in a desperate situation. We can help as individuals, or perhaps we can work together and help as a group. There are millions of others who need help as well, as we all know.

Please take time to visit the forums and lets throw some ideas out there. Our Blue Goose is going through some changes and this site will be much easier to maneuver, in the very near future. Please be patient and please believe that we are all here for good reason.......

    to make an IMPACT!

    Marvin and Mike

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 06:32 AM EST [General]

It's a relationship. Kind of like a marriage. You have good days and bad days.

It's Marvin and Mike. Or perhaps we should say it's Mike and Marvin.

The Chickster thinks they have big time troubles.

"I don't know if it's repairable," says the Bengals beat man for the Dayton Daily News.

Chick thinks it's over Chris Henry. I say the foundation goes back to not making the playoffs since '05.

"There is a wedge between them. It's a carnival atmosphere down there."

Chick believes that since Marvin made it obvious and really strong that he didn't want Chris Henry back, and the owner shoves the wide out on him, it's something that might not be repaired.

Remember this, Bengal fans have a habit of worrying so much about their own problems that they forget the rest of the world might be hurting.

The Browns look so bad in pre-season the Romeo is threatening to play the starters in the final tuneup until they look good.

The Ravens have no QB. Boller hurt. Smith hurt. Joe Flacco too green. They might just go with the green because John Harbaugh is in his first year and can live with the rookie mistakes because he is on his honeymoon.

And, who out there loves the Steelers offensive line ?

There are problems all over the division. Not just in Cincy.

Bengals radio network starts at 5:35 tonight.

The Clinton's heading for the exit.

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:30 AM GMT [Politics]

Who is Toby Harnden kidding?  The essence of both speeches was to put Barack Obama right behind the eight-ball.  If he doesn't deliver in November, the Clintons will crucify him.  Both speeches were designed to set Hillary up for 2012 - and I don't mean the high jump at the Olympics!.  And Bill Clinton?  He wants the White House again so much, he gives the impression he can already taste it.  Somebody described the speeches at th Convention as having apparent sincerity.  That's what it all is "apparent."  Smoke and mirrors, signifying blatant hypocrisy.  The tragedy is, that if Obama is to beat it, he is going to have to sink to their level.  So much change!

My Yearling Ears: The Getting of Wisdom

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:19 AM GMT [Education]

There are those who persist in questioning my account of things. They say, with a cynical curling of lip, that it is entirely impossible to accept that a farm-raised pig could speak, and write, and read with such fluency as I have. Let me tell these naysayers that Happy Harman and his Daily Star were my teacher and my university, powerful, both, as instruments to forge my ciphering skills. At noontide snap Harman would sit himself down upon an upturned apple box, unfold his newspaper, and munch contentedly on a huge doorstep of a sandwich  as he perused the contents of his newspaper. He would read slowly and painstakingly, articulating each letter aloud. Sometimes he would call Boss Harding for help, after licking away a delicious sliver of corned beef fat.

"Boss," he would ask, "what be this word 'ere. Is it jedi?"

"No, you plonker, it's J-A-D-E - jaid," replied the Boss, testy at the interruption of his football pools .

So, within a matter of months I was able to acquire mastery over twenty English vowels and forty-four consonants, including the magical silent E, which changes a cap into a cape and a pip and into a pipe.  In matters of culture I was assisted by the occasional attention of Mrs. Harding who, chancing upon a report about Jean-Paul Gaultier, would read the latest trends in fashion to me. Constance Harding was among the first to recognize my promise and intimated that she had special plans for my progress. Do not think, though, I failed to learn the lessons of the countryside while advancing in literary skill. My sharp faculties made me quick to induce predictions from everyday occurrences. When bluebottles gathered in large formations around Happy Harman's head it was a sure sign that he would soon be off across the fields to the copse between the cow pasture and the corn. How we laughed at the poor man's awkward gait and stultified motion as he half-ran, half walked across the swampy ground.

    Flying again

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:14 AM GMT [General]

Re previous post about Ryan Air, on reflection it seems quite obvious how the mushroom soup leaked. The pressure in the cabin was much lower than the pressure in the soup container.

Over the years cabin pressures have been gradually reduced without consulting the passengers, and who can doubt that in these days of high fuel prices they will be reduced even further (and perhaps already have been).

I would happily pay extra for a flight which had proper cabin pressure; the enhanced comfort and lower soup risk mitigating the environmental effects.

Incidentally a pilot once told me that the way they used to check the fuselage of the plane for leaks was to search for brown stains, where the nicotine had escaped. Alas now that smoking is not allowed....

    Lindsay Lohan's girlfriend fights back!

Samantha Ronson isn't taking and ish-talking from her woman's father, who says that Sam is using Lindsay among other things!  Here's what she said on her personal blog...

    "SHUT THE F*** UP
    Current mood: bullied

i really don't want to say anything because i feel like he wins- he, being the man who is so desperate for attention that he goes to the media whenever possible- i know i am being used, i am just a pawn- easy to sacrifice in order to feed his addiction. I was angry when i first read his attack on me, but- for me- i believe that actions speak louder than words... so now i just pity him- i am not standing in his way- i am not the reason that he has no contact with his daughter- he is- his need to throw a tantrum for the whole world to hear is- i am not going to go into a play by play defense- i feel no need to publicly defend my role in lindsay's life- i'm just sorry that she likes me more than him.

p.s. i'm not the one that is so lost that i need to use my relationship with lindsay to earn a living.... i am, always will and always have been here for her for her- not for anything else....so I think it's safe to say that there is not now and never will be a tell all..... written by me..... when does your book come out mr. lohan?"

    Hey Fan Nation

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 05:50 AM EST [General]

I would just like to say, Fan Nation really blows.

I had uploaded a picture a few months ago, and yea my middle finger was up butttt who cares? anyways I got an e-mail saying I needed to delete it and they didn't want to delete my profile because I was a featured fan

well I deleted it cause whatevr right, then I got taken off the featured fan section, and one of my photos was the most viewed of the month or whatever, THAT also got taken off

and ever since I've basically been dead on here, noooo one comments me anymore, I just went through 60 messages in my inbox which was very annoying being most of them said "hi"

or "holla at me with your msn"

    or "your sexy"

or "ortons cool, I love HHH!"

    yea uhm, please.....I prefer comments.

FIRST OFF, I do NOT have msn, or yahoo, or aol

I have AIM, and I DO NOT give it out, I strictly use it to kepe in touch with my best friend, and only her, so stop asking

you won't find me active on any other sites aside from myspace, which I have posted in a previous blog, if you'd like to add me.

Now, when it comes to wrestling, I have to say, I am not pleased these days with wwe

I stopped watching TNA when they ruined the X Division, so none of that, TNA really legit sucks these days, The x division was the whole reason I watch, guys guys like austin aries, aj styles, christopher daniels, chris sabin, sonjay dutt, and now what? it's a sad spectical.....

so really ALL I have is wwe, cause I don't waste my time trying to keep up with ROH, talk about sucking these days too.......cause they sure do.

but yes, I still watch raw, and smackdown.......don't watch ecw anymore(who does??? yuck)

I haven't ordered a PPV since One Night Stand, cause GUESS WHAT? My FAVORITE wrestler has been out since then, such****.....

and ya know I was getting SO happy about Summerslam

RANDYS FINALLY COMING BACK! I was freaking counting the days man.........only to hear this whack story about a motorcycle accident

whether it's a work or not IT STILL BLOWS

    3 MORE MONTHS? I can't take this........

and NOW EVEN CENA IS OUT OF ACTION

    ok........................wow.............

I'm not even a huge Cena mark, I enjoy the guy every now and then, in small doses, but wow, we don't even have him right now

    No Randy.....

    No Cena.....

CM Punk is a horrible world heavyweight champion.....

OH, AND NOW A REASON TO NOT WATCH SMACKDOWN, WHERE IN THE WORLD HAS EDGE GONE!??!

    oh.....and HHH is still alive.....and champion -_-

I just feel like wrestling is slapping me in the face with a cruel joke........

AND MICHELLE MCCOOL BEATING NATTIE FOR THE BELT? REALLY!?!?!? REALLY!??!!?

good news is that the amaizng Beth Phoenix is womans champ on raw again though, gtfo Mickie!

but yes, wrestling sucks right now........sucks a fat one

these feuds are stale, the upcoming ppv looks horrible, doesn't even look good enough to watch online......

I'm also sick of the priceless twins already

STOP TRYING TO BE RANDY ORTON, YOU WILL NEVER BE THAT GOOD.

yea, theres my two censt, whether you like it or not, you can all suck a fart.

    Livingstone shows his true colours

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:49 AM GMT [Politics]

I see the newt-fancying monster who made determined efforts to ruin the great city of Londinium is now to act as an advisor for the socialist dictator Chavez of Venezuela. I think this shows the true colours of the man, and it will also spell ruin for the poor citizens of Caeacas!

    London Calling

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:44 AM GMT [General]

Given Richard Barnbrook's views it may have been more apposite to have titled this 'Germany Calling' but William Joyce, former Deputy of the British Union of Fascists under Mosley, was more of a radio star than pop star.

Millions of Britons tuned in to laugh at Lord Haw Haw's preposterous Nazi lies until he was put to death. One of his fellow propagandists, Norman Baillie-Stewart was one of the last to be incarcerated in the Tower of London.

Richard's latest meandering video offering comes courtesy of the wonderful technology of Youtube as posted at the blog of another Deputy Leader: Simon Darby of the British National Party and, with a careful nod to history, begins with a glimpse of The Tower.

I urge everyone to listen to this 10 minutes of gold. Priceless.

Here are some of the comments made by our elected fool:

On the Red White and Blue Festival "Then we had people like Bob Crow coming up...and the unions and Communists marching down... Now for Mr Crow. He's obviously innocent of all the occurring, maybe.

He is involved with...or guilty by association....guilty of a raucous of violence (sic)Children...were able to play freely without the fear of being attacked or absconded (sic) 0.46 secs

On BBC4's Question Time (sic) (=Any Questions on Radio 4)

We were there to ask poignant (sic) questions.Immigration, not immigration par say (sic)........fabric of the democratic problem (?)

A certain part of the community being kept out of their own existence
    .

It's nice to see Mr B using his native language so well. He then waxes lyrically about bringing back the rope for non-capital offences like paedophilia.

Careful, Richard, Mr Joyce was one of the last people to be hanged for treason.

Londoners must be very proud of having this dolt as a representative on the GLA. They say that he is one of the most articulate speakers the BNP has. His more repulsive side can be seen on his own Telegraph blog where he spits on the graves of WW1 soldiers to have a dig at Nelson Mandela and the fight against slavery, and then demands that the Notting Hill Carnival be banned.

    Goodbye!

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:40 AM GMT [General]

It is, as Peter Cook used to say, time to say goodbye.

My blog of yesterday, Flights of Fancy, garnered 86 comments, many of which were sane, sensible, polite and intelligent.

Then, a poster, who appears to be in serious need of psychiatric help, elected to use the occasion to post a vitriolic attack on another. This had nothing whatsoever to do with the subject of my posting and I have no idea what it was all about.

However, I have no intention of letting my blog be used as a platform for personal vendettas and thus, this will be my last posting on MyT.

My blog has been running for over two years on my own website and, for those who are interested, you are most welcome to shuffle over and take a look.

Intelligent comments are, of course, most welcome.

I hope to see you at www.owenplatt.com.

    Au revoir.

    Excellent Gobbledegook

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:39 AM GMT [General]

    Quoted from DT

Other examples come from students at St Helens College of Art and Design near Liverpool, who were asked to "outline the importance of the four Noble Truths to the Buddhist faith".

One offered the baffling response: "Nirvana cannot be described because there are no words in existence for doing so. Not non-existence either, it is beyond the very ideas of existing and not existing."

What a fabulous answer to a nebulous and pointless question. (Albeit  from a 10th rate 'educational' establishment)  I award it A***+++ Merit Credit Distinction and First Class Honours. Oh, damnation - sorry - everybody gets that nowadays, don't they?

    Waking up, August

    Thursday, August 28, 2008, 04:23 AM [Poetry]

    Smack alarm, feel the sting
    Warm water on cold skin
    Knees creak, remembering
What this was like before 30 set in

    Autumn came early
    Red speckles in the trees
    Say, "jacket this morning,
    But no mosquitos, no bees"

    We're still at war
    The news isn't good
    Wonder how we'd change that
    If we could

    It's that season
    So the newspeople say
And for once we could have
    New voices on the way

    And hey
    This is dawn calling
Will you pick up the phone?
We have a day to tackle
But first I need a lift home

    Where will it guide to?

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 05:15 AM EST [General]

No surprise at  Summerslam. The  crazy Edge burns in Hell. And The Undertaker as done the half of his revenge. As he made clear last friday Mrs. Guererro will loose her soul too. I'm wondering how he will get her. Ok, her bodyguerds of the Familia are no competition for the Phenom but it won't be easy.

An other thing is the  change of Kane. I realy hope we will see the Brothers of Destruction soon by SD!

So let's see where it will guide us in the next few weeks.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also keine Überraschung bei Summer Slam.

    Greetings

    GiM
